February is an exciting month for Prairie Rose School Division. Many basketball games are going on around the division. But basketball, (and sports in general), are not what the birds are singing about this month. The Rick Hansen Foundation began a world relay tour on August 24, 2011. The 9 month tour is in celebration of the 25th aniversary of when Rick Hansen, the man in motion, circled Canada in a wheelchair. One student from each school the tour passes through will be selected based on the honour and integrity of the student. That student will then carry the Rick Hansen medal the length of the relay section for that town (or school). The relay team will be passing through Irvine, Dunmore, and Medicine Hat on Feb. 15. Through Seven Persons, and Bow Island on Feb. 17. And through the rest of Bow Island and Burdett on Feb. 18. Final details are still being worked out. Check with the school nearest you for more information. The Rick Hansen relay website is also very informative. You can visit it here at http://www.rickhansenrelay.com/en/
