New Academy Brings Professional Hockey Development to Southeast Alberta
Prairie Rose partners with Willie Desjardins to launch junior and senior high school hockey academies

Dunmore, AB - Renowned hockey coach and mentor Willie Desjardins powered by Global Sport Academy Group, and Prairie Rose School Division, are excited to announce a new partnership to create hockey academies in Southeast Alberta.

The partnership, exclusive to Prairie Rose School Division, will provide students with a unique learning experience that focuses on academic and athletic leadership excellence.  Desjardins and the academy will be responsible for the sport and athletic component, while Prairie Rose will focus on providing a high quality education program with flexible integration of the academies into the school timetables.

"I am excited to contribute to youth hockey development by mentoring and enhancing quality coaching and to transform the hockey experience for players so they leave their mark on and off the ice," says Desjardins.  “In the future I’d like to explore other academy opportunities, including options outside the sports realm, so all students can follow their passions.”

Desjardins is highly recognized in the hockey community, both locally and internationally. His portfolio includes coaching with several high caliber hockey organizations including the Medicine Hat Tigers, Dallas Stars, Texas Stars, and Vancouver Canucks, in addition to championships with Team Canada.

"Prairie Rose is beyond excited and thrilled to partner with someone, not only known for hockey excellence, but also for having a heart for kids,” says Prairie Rose School Division Superintendent Roger Clarke.  “This is an exciting opportunity for our students, and we look forward to being on the cutting edge of this initiative.”

The new hockey academy program, starting this fall, is being offered to both male and female junior and senior high school athletes at Irvine School, Parkside Junior High School in Redcliff, and Eagle Butte High School in Dunmore.  Academy registration forms are available online or by visiting the Prairie Rose School Division office in Dunmore.
