Trustee Electoral Ward Review: Community Online Meetings

Municipal and school board elections are scheduled in Alberta for the fall of 2021. In Prairie Rose School Division this includes the election of 8 school trustees across 6 electoral wards. The Board of Trustees is currently seeking public input about the electoral boundaries and trustee representation in these wards to determine if changes should be made prior to the next election.

Prairie Rose School Division would like to invite members of the school community and the general public who live within the school division boundaries to participate in one of three upcoming virtual community sessions in order to gather stakeholder feedback on the matter. The meetings are scheduled Monday, October 26th, Tuesday October 27th and Wednesday October 28th and will start at 7:00 PM.

The meeting presentations will include/review the following:

  • Motivation for examining electoral wards in Prairie Rose
  • The legislation that supports and directs trustee elections and the establishment of wards
  • A look at population and demographic data in Alberta and Prairie Rose School Division
  • Comparable school divisions based on size and enrollment
  • Social and geographic considerations
  • Possible scenarios and alternatives based on the data presented
  • An opportunity to provide feedback and have your questions answered

If you are unable to attend the virtual meetings but would like to provide feedback on this matter, we invite you to read through the online presentation package and complete a brief survey. These items will be available online following the virtual meeting dates and we will be sending them out directly to our school community through our School Messenger system
